Flame Tree Initiative

Social Entrepreneurship for African Development

The Flame Tree Initiative partners with African universities to foster scalable, socially minded businesses that accelerate regional change. We believe that training, mentoring and launching development enterprises - businesses that confront global development challenges – is a potent way to contribute to the new, innovative era in Africa.

Become a Flame Tree Mentor

Flame Tree entrepreneurs receive extensive training on development enterprise, but their greatest opportunity for success comes from specialized coaching from business and development professionals. Our Mentors provide the one-on-one technical experience that growing businesses need to thrive. Typical mentorships are completed on a project-basis so you can engage with the projects you love on a schedule that fits your busy lifestyle.

Project options vary from a few hours spent professionalizing a business plan to longer commitments like guiding an entrepreneur through rapid prototyping to create an optimal product for their market. Whether you have experience in fashion, agriculture, solar energy, or education, we have a project to fit your needs. Don't see what you're looking for here? Just ask Lauren and she can help connect you to an innovative and growing Malawi-based development enterprise.
